Nuclear Forensics Technical Program Support Specialist
Location: Washington, DC
This position is for a Technical Program Support Specialist to assist the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Nuclear Forensics (NA-83).
This position will support NA-83 Management in the coordination and integration of programmatic and interagency efforts, including meeting support, document creation,
communications, and coordination of products related to the NA-83 and NNSA mission. The focus will be providing support to technical nuclear forensics programs and directly
reporting to the NA-83 Management.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interagency meeting support, including scheduling coordination and development of meeting materials.
- Coordinate interagency-generated nuclear forensics documents; synthesize technical information; conduct comment adjudication; position involves direct interface with multiple agencies and national laboratories.
- Produce professional-level documents in support of NA-83.
- Participate in development of planning documents to support nuclear forensics efforts.
- Provide technical and administrative support to a broad range of operations and collaborative efforts with the interagency as they relate to improving the Department of Energy (DOE)/NNSA nuclear forensics capability.
- Track issues and topic areas that cross programmatic boundaries which impact the Nuclear Forensics Program.
- Ability to brief Office of Nuclear Forensics Management and interact at leadership levels; interactions will include working directly with interagency, DOE laboratories, and international partners.
- Coordinate and track multiple plans, policy, and program initiatives.
- Draft and facilitate communications planning as it applies to Nuclear Forensics efforts within the DOE/NNSA, Department of Defense (DoD) and the interagency.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree and 5+ years of related Nuclear Forensics program experience or other area within U.S. Government (USG) exemplifying ability to learn and be effective in executing required responsibilities.
- Proficient in advanced Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint with ability to apply advanced Microsoft applications to transform draft reports and products into professional, final products.
- Proficient in virtual meeting applications, including WebEx and Microsoft Teams.
- Proficient in Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint.
- Willingness to work directly with clients in an environment that changes rapidly; must possess a mature approach to the personal interactions between a consultant and the Client.
- Must be an independent self-starter with excellent organizational skills and can multitask and be comfortable working with a team of technical experts in varying fields of operational and scientific disciplines.
- Ability to track and monitor documents from inception to production.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
- Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously.
- General knowledge of agency organization and structure.
- Able to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment, including extensive use of computers, under sometimes stressful conditions.
- Able to work after hours, extended shifts, and on weekends when required during emergency responses and exercises.
- Domestic travel will be required with potential for international travel. Travel will be best cost to the government and only economy airfare and economy class rental cars will be allowed.
- DOE site access requires the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with an ACTIVE DOE Q or Dod Top-Secret Clearance. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a pre-employment background check and test for the absence of any illegal substances will be required as a condition of employment and for the purposes of maintaining the security clearance.
- Domestic travel will be required with potential for international travel. Travel will be best cost to the government and only economy airfare and economy class rental cars will be allowed.
- Certain positions requiring a security clearance may require the periodic successful completion of a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
- Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances will be conducted as a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites. The candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests will be required as a condition of employment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Understanding of the USG Nuclear Forensics Enterprise.
- Knowledge of the DOE and NNSA Strategic Mission.
- Familiarity with military operations planning a plus.
