Kits to Heart
The PEC Corps participated in volunteer activities with Kits to Heart, a nonprofit dedicated to spreading hope and solidarity to those affected by cancer through thoughtfully crafted care kits. Founded in May 2020 in Clarksville, MD, by Sonia Su, a three-time cancer survivor, Kits to Heart provides curated cancer care kits to hospitals, cancer centers, and directly to patients across the country. Volunteers engaged in crafting three unique items for these kits, contributing to the organization’s mission of uplifting patients through meaningful, personalized support.
In addition to the kits, Kits to Heart offers an innovative Art for Cancer Wellness Program, addressing the isolation felt by many patients, caregivers, and oncology healthcare workers. Drawing from her own experience, Sonia thoughtfully fills each kit with informational resources and comforting products tailored to complement various cancer treatments, inspired by the care package she received during her treatment that motivated her to “pay it forward.”
In support of this mission, PEC made a $2,000 donation and pledged to match individual donations up to an additional $2,000, helping bring hope to those facing their most challenging moments.
