Employment Position: Medical IT Specialist

Salary Range: $118,000 – $125,000
The Medical IT Specialist will provide network administration, information technology, and cybersecurity support in a complex enterprise data center environment. The specialist will maintain secure, reliable network services, monitor system performance, resolve technical issues, and coordinate planned changes to protect the security and operational integrity of assigned systems.
Responsibilities:
Network Administration & Infrastructure Management
- Implement and administer TCP/IP-based services in complex enterprise data center environments; manage network appliances, backbone routers, switches, and related infrastructure.
- Monitor the health, performance, configuration, and connectivity of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and associated hardware and software.
- Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve network degradation, equipment failures, software errors, and operating procedure deficiencies.
- Program and maintain network devices; diagnose and resolve connectivity issues by identifying whether cable, equipment, software, or operational procedures are the root cause.
- Install, configure, maintain, and secure Cisco routers and switches; administer Cisco ASA firewalls and Cisco Identity Services solutions.
- Support installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of routers, switches, workstations, servers, and related hardware and software in operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) environments.
Cybersecurity & Information Security
- Track all planned changes to assigned systems, assess their potential impact on system security posture, ensure timely identification and reporting of planned Network Attached Storage (NAS) system changes with potential cybersecurity impact, and support cyber operations activities.
IT Systems Support & Troubleshooting
- Manage user accounts, network permissions, system access rights, and access to equipment; resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability issues.
- Apply software-defined networking concepts, including software controllers and application programming interfaces (APIs), to support network traffic management.
Network Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Install, configure, and monitor tested and evaluated WAN/LAN performance measurement software to identify performance trends and support timely corrective action.
- Configure network devices, implement standard software configurations, and install and monitor approved performance-measurement tools for WAN/LAN environments.
- Use benchmarks and performance data to optimize servers and data communications devices for normal and surge workloads; coordinate corrective actions with technical support personnel.
- Provide network troubleshooting and user support in coordination with Tier 2 and Tier 3 personnel using automated monitoring and reporting systems.
- Assist system administrators and engineers with data center devices, operating systems, applications, and hardware, completing assigned technical support tasks.
Technical Operations & Systems Management
- Apply network architecture, topology, and protocol concepts to the design, development, testing, installation, operation, management, and maintenance of network services that support business requirements.
- Support IT planning and evaluations using knowledge of emerging technologies, acquisition management policies and procedures, cost-benefit analysis, and analytical methods.
- Apply knowledge of customer missions, programs, and organizational IT infrastructure when evaluating technical requirements and supporting operational objectives.
- Maintain working knowledge of Cisco and other network products, Windows and Linux operating systems, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, and relevant utilities.
- Apply IT security, requirements analysis, systems testing, performance management, network design, project management, and technical documentation practices; communicate findings clearly.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree required.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience working in the medical administrative field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise network administration, TCP/IP services, WAN/LAN operations, cybersecurity principles, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience administering Cisco routers, switches, and security technologies, including Cisco ASA firewalls and identity services.
- Proficiency with common business software, including Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and oral communication skills.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting OT/ICS environments and enterprise data centers.
- Familiarity with software-defined networking, APIs, Windows and Linux platforms, and COTS technologies.
- Experience with IT performance measurement, systems testing, requirements analysis, and project coordination.
- Relevant Cisco or network/security certifications.
