Project Enhancement Corporation Sponsors Wounded Warriors Day on the Bay to Honor Veteran Service and Sacrifice
September 1, 2026: Project Enhancement Corporation (PEC) was honored to sponsor the 12th annual Wounded Warriors Day on the Bay, a special event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the courage, sacrifice, and service of wounded veterans.
Hosting a combined total of 200 Wounded Warriors and their family members, the event brought together volunteers, community members, local organizations, and supporters for a memorable day of appreciation and fellowship. The day began with an opening ceremony featuring remarks from a member of the National Guard and the Posting of the Colors. During the ceremony, members of the American Gold Star Mothers, a non-profit organization comprised of mothers who lost children in military service, presented plaques of honor to recognize participating veterans for their service and sacrifice.
Following the ceremony, veterans took to the water alongside volunteer boat captains for an afternoon centered on connection, reflection, and camaraderie. As the boats traveled together, veterans shared stories, formed new friendships, and enjoyed the opportunity to relax among others who understood the meaning of service and sacrifice. One of the most memorable moments came as the cruise approached the historic waters near Fort McHenry, where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the words that became the “Star-Spangled Banner.” There, the veterans were honored with a water cannon salute – a fitting tribute against the backdrop of a place deeply connected to the nation’s history and the spirit of service being celebrated that day.
After returning to shore, veterans and their families gathered for a crab feast, extending the day’s sense of camaraderie and community. Over the meal, attendees continued sharing stories, reconnecting with fellow service members, and building new relationships within the local military and veteran community.
The Maryland Yacht Club served as more than the host venue for the event; it provided the setting, waterfront access, and community support that helped bring the day together. Through the coordination of club organizers, volunteers, and boat captains, veterans and their families were welcomed into an experience designed to honor their service, strengthen connections, and create lasting memories. The event also highlighted the Maryland Yacht Club’s role as a gathering place for service, community engagement, and support for the local military and veteran community.

“As the proud son of a soldier, this event has special meaning to me. Honoring those through ceremony, recognition and remembrance came together on this special day on the bay. Our Warrior and his wife, watched as we passed the ruins of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, and the spot where our nation’s anthem was reportedly written on an American Truce ship during the bombardment of Fort McHenry in 1814. As we approached closer to Baltimore Harbor, he witnessed a large Boat belonging the Baltimore Fire Department fire its water cannons high into the sky. He turned to me and asked what and why they were doing that. I replied, they are doing that in your honor. He was very moved by that. It really is such a privilege to in such a small way, honor those who have dared to risk all for us.”
