Environment, Safety and Health Analyst

Location:    Hybrid Position – The position will be remote with the ability to come into DOE’s Campus in Germantown, MD, upon request.

Project Enhancement Corporation (PEC), and its team of consulting firms, focus on providing Project Management and specialized technical consulting services in the areas of emergency operations, nuclear incident response, nuclear safety, worker safety and health, quality assurance, environment as well as materials and facilities disposition within the DOE and commercial power industry. The team is comprised of the following firms: PEC, Centaur and MAS, each offering its own comprehensive and competitive compensation and benefits package.

The ideal candidate will be expected to handle a wide range of analytical tasks and be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceptionally well organized and flexible and enjoy the challenges of supporting multiple projects and programs simultaneously. Crucial to this role is the ability to interact with federal and contractor staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Strong data analysis, written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications are equally important.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong working relationships with federal and contractor staff to provide superior support to PEC clients.
  • Maintain DOE-wide operational awareness through regular reviews of various operating experience documents including daily ORPS reports submitted by the field to identify emerging adverse issues across the DOE complex.
  • Extract, analyze and present ES&H data from a variety of sources and databases including DAMaL, ORPS, CAIRS, Fire Protection Database, etc. in creative and meaningful ways including charts, graphs, and tables.
  • Develop and write presentations, reports, articles, and other products to meet client needs.
  • Perform occasional travel at the client’s request to make presentations on ES&H trending and analysis reports and potential issues.
  • When approved by the federal client, work closely with the PEC Information Technology team to identify data management expansion and efficiency opportunities and to automate repetitive analytical functions.
  • Work closely with EHSS federal clients and contractor staff to create, revise, and edit technical documents, spreadsheets, graphs, and other deliverables.
  • Perform tech editing/proofreading of technical documents.
  • Write technical information in easily understandable language.
  • Research a multitude of ES&H topics and apply the research to meet client needs.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple activities/assignments simultaneously and communicate progress to federal clients and PEC teammates in a timely manner.
  • Maintain effective internal and external communications regarding projects and programs.
  • Maintain initiative, flexibility, and cooperation in a team environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent experience in Safety and Health, Physical or Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a comparable area.
  • At least 4 years of commercial or government experience, including at least 2 years of data analysis/presentation, practical safety and health, environmental protection, or engineering experience. Knowledge in the application of chemical, biological, physical, and radiological science and/or environment, safety and health concepts to ensure safe facility operations is desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated proficiency extracting, manipulating, and presenting data from diverse sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present reports and presentations (verbally and written).
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills in the creation of documents, plans, procedures, presentations, and proposals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to organize and work on several complex projects within time constraints.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently.
  • A dedicated and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to work as a team member or team lead
  • Willingness to work directly with clients in an environment that changes rapidly.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for a DOE Building Access badge.
  • DOE site access will require the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of obtaining a security clearance will be required as a condition of employment.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of managing a SharePoint site.
  • Knowledge of DOE sites and types of operation a plus.
  • Knowledge of project management processes is also a plus.
